World COPD Day takes place this Wednesday, November 18th. This is an annual event organised by the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease. World COPD Day aims to raise awareness and improve the care of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) around the world.
COPD is a progressive disease which makes it hard for sufferers to breath properly. It can cause symptoms such as coughing that produces large amounts of mucus, wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness and many others.
The theme for this year’s event focuses on giving a positive message that emphasises the meaningful actions that people can take in order to improve their respiratory health.
